Who can apply for Comprehensive Travel Insurance?

Cover is available to Thai Citizens or Non-Thailand Citizens residing in Thailand with a valid Non-Tourist Visa at the time of this application.

You must at least be six (6) months old at the start date of travelling and you must not be over seventy (70) years of age.

Single-Trip Travel Insurance: You can only purchase your travel insurance up to 180 days before your journey commences.

Annual Travel Insurance: You can only purchase your travel insurance up to 180 days before your journey commences. 

You can purchase your travel insurance on the day your travel commences, prior to the commencement of your journey.

General Questions

No monetary excesses – You can claim all benefits up to the full amount in the Policy

Comprehensive Travel Insurance Single Trip Insurance policy cannot be extended once you leave Thailand. However, you can make any changes to your travel period prior to the date of travelling.

Each trip covered under the Comprehensive Travel Insurance Annual Mult-trip Insurance policy may be for a maximum of 90 days only.

Comprehensive Travel Insurance Single Trip Insurance policy cannot be cancelled once the policy is issued except in case you are denied a visa by the embassy of the country where the trip will take place. Evidence from the embassy must be presented and you must inform the Company before the date on which the coverage comes into effect. If you do this, we will refund any premiums you have paid.

You may cancel Comprehensive Travel Insurance Annual Multi-trip Insurance policy by giving advance written notice to the Chubb. Such termination will become effective on the date on which Chubb receives the notice. Chubb will refund the premium after deducting a partial premium for the effective period of the Policy on a pro-rata basis.

No, you do not need to provide a medical certificate to take out this policy. However please be aware that losses arising from pre-existing medical conditions are generally not covered. Please refer to the Policy Wording for full explanation and defined terms.

Overseas Medical, Cancellation/Additional Expenses

No - the policy excludes cover for losses arising from an employer's request or demand.

No - the policy excludes cover for a change in plans, other than for a journey which is cancelled, curtailed or unable to be completed because of the unforeseeable death, Accidental Injury or Sickness or Disease of your family members, or other unforeseen circumstances beyond your control. Please refer to the Policy Wording for full explanation and defined terms.

It will depend on the facts of your claim, but we will only cover loss of deposits and cancellation charges arising from the unforeseeable death of your family members. Subject to the policy limits, terms, conditions and exclusions.

No - not if your loss arises from a pre-existing medical condition.

Any general exclusion I should understand before purchasing Comprehensive Travel Insurance?

This Policy does not cover any injury, sickness, loss or damage arising from/ or as a result of the following causes or that which occurs at the time as follows:

  1. Suicide or attempted suicide or self-inflicted injury.
  2. War, invasion, act of foreign enemies, warlike operations (whether war is declared or not), civil war, uprising, insurrection, riot, strike or work stoppage, civil commotion, revolution, coup d’etat, proclamations of martial law.
  3. Radiation or radioactivity from any nuclear fuel or nuclear waste produced by the combustion of nuclear fuel or any process of self-sustaining nuclear fission/fusion.
  4. Radioactive explosion, or any nuclear component or harmful substance that could cause an explosion in a nuclear process.
  5. Any law, prohibition, or regulations by government of any country
  6. Any illegal or unlawful act by the covered person or confiscation, detention, or destruction by customs or other authorities.
  7. While the covered person serves as a soldier, police officer, or volunteer in a war or to suppress crime.
  8. While the covered person is in the vicinity of oil rigs or underground mines.
  9. While the covered person has an indication or disease related to mental condition psychiatric disease, stress, or insanity.
  10. Loss or damage related to drug addiction or genetic disorder
  11. The covered person not taking all reasonable efforts to safeguard his/her property or to avoid any injury or sickness or mitigate loss or damage which is the cause of claim under this Policy. However, there are additional exclusions, please read Comprehensive Travel Insurance Policy Wording.
